Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is an evidence-based, trauma-informed approach to help work with our most difficult thoughts and emotions. This mindfulness-based therapy also helps clarify your heart’s deepest desires for the kind of life and relationships you’d be excited to have, and what gets in the way. ACT teaches us how to heal from trauma and mental health difficulties while building patterns of effective living no matter what our lives throw at us.
ACT utilizes a six part “Hexaflex” model to teach the skills we need to manage distressing mental and emotional health symptoms. These are acceptance, defusion, present moment awareness, self and narrative work, values clarification, and committed action.
I can help coach you in the use of these skills and identify opportunities for integrating them into your life. They can be extraordinarily helpful in tackling anxiety, depression, trauma, and interpersonal problems.
